Ohm Trail
Aventure, Découverte et... Résistance
22 years of resistance for this mythical race.
Much more than a trail, this race exudes an aura like no other in Belgium. A route that evolved from a training course to a Belgian Championship while preserving its original essence: Prioritizing adventure over the podium.
It’s not about the finish line. It’s about the path that leads to it
As formidable as it is enchanting, the Ohm Trail winds through the magnificent trails of the Aqualian region, at the gates of the Ardennes. The numerous climbs in this splendid valley make it one of the most demanding routes in Belgium.
Unforgiving, the race demands, challenges and breaks. But the Ohm Trail values, strengthens, and inspires the resilient! Welcome to an adventure with yourself.

L'histoire
Anno 2004. Yves Magnée and Dominique Leclercq, two pioneers of the Belgian trail community, are preparing their participation in the Yukon Arctic Ultra. A 300-mile (480km!) ultra-trail that follows the Yukon Quest trail, the most difficult dog sled race trail in the world.
To train and test themselves, they designed a demanding and technical course in the magnificent Aqualian valley, their favorite playground.
Trail running was an unknown discipline at the time. Yves and Dominique had the idea of converting their training course into a race to share their passion and introduce the region to those around them.
The concept was popular and was renewed the following year. And then one more and little by little theOhm Trail started to attract runners from all over Europe.
The race has evolved over the years. The first editions were marked by a high number of DNF due to the difficulty of the course. More “accessible” distances have been introduced to allow everyone to discover the trail.
But with the years, the “locals” wanted a longer course, in order to prepare for mountain races and so a 55km was added and finally an 80km to host the Belgian Ultra Trail Championship in 2022.
The race attracts every year runners of all levels, eager to test themselves on this demanding course, to discover the Ninglinspo valley and to enjoy a well deserved cold Belgian beer at the finish!

L'Ohm Trail
Created in 2004, this mythical race evolved from a training course to a Belgian Championship while preserving its original essence: Prioritizing adventure over the podium.
Highly varied and technical, the Ohm Trail is a genuine ultra cross-country race that will take you through the magnificent Aywaille region on a course 90% made up of forest trails.
The Ohm, Ω the unit used to measure the resistance to effort symbolizes perfectly this trail whose purpose is to be a course abounding in difficulties and climbs which cumulates a difference in height of 1950m D+ on the original race The route alternates between technical sections, single tracks, steep climbs and steep descents.
However, the main attraction of this route is the diversity of the landscapes crossed. A magnificent route that takes trail runners through nature reserves and trails comparable to those found in the mountains of France. The course thus reveals the splendid wild corners of the Aqualian region, such as the terribly beautiful Ninglinspo valley, varied in every sense of the word, fun and challenging!
A treat, just like the other enchanting places we passed through: the Heid des Gattes, the Fonds de Quarreux and the Chefna.
“An authentic trail, as demanding as it is beautiful. The Ohm Trail will make you suffer with a smile!”
